Hello all, I was wondering if any of you or anyone you know has had an experience with a shaking bed?
The reason I am asking is because for over 10 years now on and off, but more frequently over the last 5 years my bed shakes. It is only a very mild shake almost a rocking.
This has happened to me everywhere, even in hotel rooms..and has just started up in our new house.
I would love to hear any theories as to what may cause this to happen..

hello there....I know there are many explanations to why your beds may be shaking, such as being on the second floor and vibrations through the floor could cause the bed to shake or other outside forces (large trucks) which can be passing by outside of the home. But I completely understand what you are saying....
Since we moved into our current home I have had strange occurances, such as sightings, voices and smells. Most of which I have been able to disprove, but others remain a mystery. I have also been woken up in the middle of the night to what felt like someone walked into the foot of my bed. I looked to see if it was the cat and she was sleeping on the floor in the hallway. This has happened several times, mostly when sleeping, so I never thought too much of it. Until two weeks ago, when my husband and I were lying in bed early to watch a movie and in the middle of the movie it felt like someone kicked the foot of the bed. We looked for the cat and we could see her sleeping in the hallway without even getting up from the bed.
Another thing I had happen was while on vacation. I was lying in my bed (son and husband fell asleep on the other one) and while watching TV it felt like someone was walking on the bed. It was weird. Felt like they started at the foot and walked up. I didnt see anything or movement of the blakent, but it felt like the bed was being pressed down from the foot steps.

I am not saying this is it, but just a thought for you's. It can in some case's relate to some types of sleep disorder's. Such as REM or RBD sleep, which is where you are inbetween asleep and awake and will have rapid eye movement. It can cause things like the feeling of beds shaking, or in some more extreme case's can cause people to act out violent or dramatic dreams. depending on the type of sleep diorder.
I have run into some case's in the past where sleep disorders have been the issue.
Just a thought anyway

Just a thought anyway I completely agree....some of the times it is a sleep disorder...that is why I began keeping a journal about the times it happens, including time of day, whether I was sleeping, waking up or just plain exhausted and where. I also make a small note about where the cat is, just so I know when I refer back that she was not around.

Have you discussed it with a doctor? If it happens wherever you are, you should do everything you can to rule out some type of medical condition. Like some form of migrane, epilepsy, inner ear problems.

We have checked into all of that already for migranes I used to suffer from.
The one thing which peaked my interest was the night my husband experienced it with me and we were not in bed to go to sleep we were sitting up watching a movie and the entire bed felt like someone kicked the foot of it. All of the others I have written off as nothing just being tired because I was not fully conscious when they occured.

Hi I have had it happen to me twice in the last year. I have three kids and I wake up to quite a violent shaking of the bed, and think its my kids. I'm like ' ok ok I'll get up', there is never anyone there. Very disturbing as I feel my body and head rolling from side to side from the movement of the bed.
