The KII does react to magnets placed near the sensor. Depending on the strength and distance it's quite easy to get full scale indications.

That was not clear if you keep it still and still get reading. I was testing my Esmog Scout, and it does respond to static magnetic fields, and obviously has a Hall sensor to do that. I saw the product page looking at modified meters with output jacks. Unfortunately all they do is output the meters reading and not the undemodulated signal where the important information is. My Esmog has a headphone jack and a speaker. You can hear impulses when you wave magnets, but you would have to wave it 60 times per second to hear power line hum.

Yes holding the magnet still will give a reading on a K-II ... there's very little that won't set off the K-II which can be one if its major drawbacks at times.
