A new program appears to have started on foxtel here in Melbourne called Mysteryquest the first program was a visit to Alcatraz. They had two new machines not seen by me before, the first was called a Ovilus, which seems to convert EMF's into speech and another jigger called a paranormal puck, which plugs into the USB port of a PC.
There is a bit of info on the net about these , anybody had a play ?
the program is on mondays 8.30 pm history channel

Ive not had a chance to use one and as a side note there is now an "iovilus" for the iphone. I really don't understand how these machines can work. It assumes that a ghost knows how these machines work when we don't even know how they operate. Jury is out for me on this.

Hi Bruce,
I watched that show last week too, mainly because I would LOVE to investigate Alcatraz one day (hopefully).....I also hadn't heard of the Ovilus & paranormal puck, was an interesting show though. Must check what this weeks show is about.
Kate.

The Ovilus and paranormal puck, like franks box and the radio shack hack have been around awhile with mixed results.
Some swear by them, others say it's all random. Searching youtube may give you some idea of each so you can decide how you feel. Feel free to create a post into the Tools and Equipment section on your discoveries/feelings on each.

Hi Bruce,
Oh it was on Monday night....ooh I missed it, couldn't remember which night I watched it last week, will have to check the guide to see if they replay Monday nights show, if not I am going to have to IQ & series link the show so I don't miss it again......do you watch Ghost Adventures on W channel Saturday nights?, they go to some very interesting places. Last Saturday they investigated the Edinburgh Crypts in Scotland, whilst they were interveiwing people around the city about the crypts, someone told them about 'Greyfriars Cemetery' which is also in Edinburgh, this is said to be the most haunted cemetery in the world, I watched a show on this cemetery once, was very scary, most of the activity centres around the tomb of George Mckenzie....perhaps if you look on youtube you might find this episode, it's very good.

Not that I necessarily believe or disbelieve these machines work, but I don't know if saying how would a ghost know how it works is a good argument. I don't really know how my cell phone works, but I use it.

Yeah, I kinda know how my phone works. But the point is, I don't have to know the technical aspects behind my phone. I don't have to know how my microwave works to punch one button, and open the door when it's done. We don't know how a ghost percieves the things around us. We don't know how it looks to them. Or how what they have to do to manipulate anything. However, I'm pretty skeptical about anything that works by picking random words out of radio broadcasts, because the words are already there "for the picking".

We have used the Ovilus, paranormal puck and frank's box. They are now used for door stops and paper weights.

You gave me a giggle! I'm really cautious about buying equipment because I don't want to buy the wrong thing, and something to become a doorstop.

I've used the Ovilus with results that are at least worthy of taking another look at how the Ovilus works. I don't use it to produce evidence, nor look at it as a gateway to the voices or thoughts from the other side, but I have had some interesting results with its use. For instance: words that are relevant to the case at hand and are not in its dictionary have been "spoken" by the machine. What does this mean? I'm not sure. It could be that we are all being decieved by its manufacturer and these non-dictionary words as listed by the maker are in fact words that are in the internal dictionary and we are being deceived to the actual contents for sale purposes. It also may mean that entities can somehow manipulate the emf or better said elf waves to communicate. Until I become smart enough to actually build one myself and thus be able to control the source of this creation named the Ovilus, I may never know the truth. In the meantime, at times, I use it as one my tools to help guide the course of some of my questioning when conducting regular EVP sessions. I figure it can't hurt but only help. However, I never include the results from Ovilus sessions in my reports because there is just too many unknown factors about this device
