TEST#1 Frequency Sweep Recording Ok the G.W.R.I.P team knows I had to buy this thing, after waiting months it arrived yesterday. So I took it over to the shop this morning for a quick test. This is not the official test, I wanted to do it somewhere else but I needed to familiarize myself with all the functions it has so I decided to give it a shot. Within 1 minute I recorded this session. www.ronedmedia.com/GhostWatch/Audio/JM6_9_10_comp.mp3The original EVP from December talking about the temp www.ghostwatchrip.com/Audio/coldinhereraw.mp3You be the judge, I'm still experimenting LOL. For those who do not know, when we were conducting an EVP experiment in this building several months ago we recorded an EVP talking about the temperature as we were watching it drop. If there are ghosts here I think they have a sense of humor the Original investigations: www.ghostwatchrip.com/cases_jomars.htm

Thanks for that ... looking forward to your thoughts once you know the device inside out. I'm sure there's many that are interested in exactly what this device can and can't do and how useful it may be on investigations.

As an individual I love this new product! How exciting! However, don't you think because of the combined radio sweep mechanics included in the recorder (even if only being used as a real time recorder and not in combination with sweep) there is a potnetial for EVP contamination? Meaning, others will it consider it less proof that the EVPs are unexplained and real spirit contact. The "unexplained" voices could be considered just a collection of random pulls from the FM sweep? ...regardless of the settings, because the capability of other sources exists and there is the potential for malfunction?

The device has several modes of operation, these modes are to the best of my knowledge in no way connected. In other words if you are in live record mode (no sweep recording) then the device is only a highly sensitive recorder comparable to the ZOOM in quality. If you are in sweep mode you have several option, you can sweep US bands or non-US bands, you can dial in a specific frequency or white noise. To my knowledge there is no way that the radio frequency sweep can occur randomly without being activated from the start of a session. Also a random radio frequency sweep would be easy to identify and rule out on the spot especially if one were in live mode where you can hear what is being recorded in real time and lets face it, that's a great feature and one you would almost always want to use. As for a potential for malfunction, every electronic device that performs a multitude of tasks carries that same risk, our cell phones have the ability to malfunction and call people on there own, my iphone has not dialed into the itunes store and downloaded purchases on it's own but in theory I suppose it is possible as it has that ability. So if we use 1 as chance and 0 as no chance then by it's design, just because it has the ability we have to give it a 1 even though it is highly unlikely. The truth is that no amount of evidence will sway certain people, and that's fine by me, I use this device to gather data, what others make of that data is up to them. I have talked to Gary about his device and about those in the field who are using it and I have to say for the price you get a lot in one unit whereas if you use a ZOOM or other standard recorder you just have one function and no chances to experiment with techniques that IMO deserve a bit more looking at. IMO the RT is just as valid of a recorder as any others that perform that task, and it's data is just as valid as well. I have been trying to get enough time to do a little video demo of the device but have been way to busy with everything else under the sun. Hope that helps, Ron PS. Here is an actual EVP recorded in live mode with the device this past weekend during an investigation. www.ronedmedia.com/GhostWatch/Audio/whisper3.mp3There were four of us at the time and two of us were listening to the RT in tandem and heard the voice while the others who were right there with us heard nothing audibly. You will note how low the whisper is in comparison the the BG noises. you will also note how there is only a small amount of back ground hiss. The BG hiss on most devices is what IMO is responsible for making a majority of EVPs hard to pick out or understand.

Thanks for the replay. I intend on getting one because to be able to hear any responses in real time during an EVP session would prove so valuable. It would so help the line of questioning and also help to encourage any entities to continue to interact with me and/or team.
...and your are correct in that no evidence will ever be enough for some, but I still worry it that the EVPs, unlike the ones I get now on a regular digital recorder will now be considered not "hard" evidence due to some unknown or unsure possibility. However, I think the gamble is worth it, and I'll just have a standard recorder running at the same time.
Thanks again

Have bought and field tested once. I was very impressed. One possible downfall is the fact that it's so good at picking up sound at distances that outside interference has to be considered . I have a house investigation in 2 weeks. I will be very interested to get another real time chance to field test.

I would love to try the RT-EVP Recorder, but nearly $300 is just to much. So instead I came up with my own real time recording setup,
I bought a Zoom H1 after thorough research and talking to a lot of people that have one, it's an awesome EVP recorder, it will be used as my full time recorder, always on recording.
I bought an older Olympus, it's one with the big easy to read buttons and lettering, and was highly rated as a recorder.
I got the Zoom on sale for $82 the Olympus on EBAY for $19
On an investigation, I turn on the Zoom full time, then when ready to ask a real time question, I turn on the Olympus and ask for example, is their anyone here or whatever you want to ask, I wait say 30 seconds and then put my earphones on and rewind it and listen to see if I get an answer, so, real time EVP, while my Zoom continues to record.
My Olympus has no PC connection, but does not need one as it's only the question & answer part of my RT EVP setup, the Zoom being the better recorder will be the one I review later for evidence and if I catch any responses on the Olympus, I will mark the time & location on the zoom, so RT EVP recording setup for around $115 or so.
No spirit box attached bu then again I don't like or use those anyway, and I would say from reviews that the expensive RT EVP recorder has around the same excellent recording ability as the Zoom or they are close, I still love my setup, the Olympus with those big easy to read buttons and letters, and I think the Zoom is very cool looking also. yes it's probably more convenient to have the RT all in one piece but if your like us and most groups are, and on a budget, you can't afford $250 to $300 for just 1 EVP recorder, I would put my setup against the $300 RT device in quality anyday, I've gotten evps that I never would have known existed without my setup with the zoom and olympus.
