hi all,
will be using this thread as a journal of events or non events. each time i log in, i'll update it.
this way not only can i keep a journal about the activities of mr spooky, but i can ask and answer questions throughout the journey but also gain feedback as well.
8.3.2011 my youngest daughter and i have been staying with my eldest daughter and boyfriend for the past week, with a friend popping in to feed my 2 cats.....lastnight was the first night back at home and at the moment all seems quiet on the western front, a few knocks and bumps but sounds that could be explained away as normal house sounds. no vibe at present. cats relaxed and sleeping. time is 12.30pm. weather is sunny with a slight breeze. (does weather contribute??) what other things could i note in a journal?

long term observation : neither cat seems to go anywhere near the back room. both cats tend to rest in places where they can see down the hallway to the backroom. both cats are at times extremely jumpy at any noises from rear end of house and after hesitating in a crouched position move forward "stealthily" to investigate but clearly and visibly ready to retreat fast at a moments notice.
most of the footsteps heard come from the hallway, usually at night when we have all gone to bed, but there has been times that they have been heard in daylight hours. the hallway leads to the back room with two more bedrooms off to the right and laundry/toilet and bathroom off to the left. the other end of the hallway leads into the open plan lounge, dining and kitchen.
rear room has history. when i viewed the house for the first time, the previous female owner had the room set up as a little girls room. she wouldn't let me step into that room but rather stick my head in. at the time i put this down to community rumours that involved questions about her sanity.
upon moving into the house, a strong and overwhelming feeling of someone standing right behind you or at times up in your face along with the vibe "this is my space get out" this passed slowly but really changed approx 3 mths into living here, when i had the stern talking with mr spooky about scaring my girls. this talk took place in the rear room with the door closed. i can't explain why but we've always thought the rear room is mr spooky's domain. the only person who can stay in that room is my youngest daughter who is turning 17yrs old. she has spoken to me of dreams in which she gave a description of mr spooky and shared conversations that she had had with him in those dreams.
undocumented events to date:
doors opening and closing (3rd bedroom, 3 people at home, one in the 3rd bedroom awake, 2 in loungeroom. door opened and closed to third bedroom. no wind and door was closed fully before opening and closing for no apparent reason)
dragon ornament lamp (unplugged) that continuously turned on and off over periods of time (not as in flashing but on for a while, off for a while. lamp was originally unplugged as it kept turning itself on no matter how many times you turned it off. after it was unplugged we couldn't turn it off but it would come on after a while turn off again. this lamp was thrown out) this activity was also in the 3rd bedroom (middle of the house)
footsteps up and down the hallway. this happens with each series of events (activites come in seemingly irregular intervals, goes quiet for a few months then becomes active for a while then quiet again....hmmm must take note of what is happening in daily life around the times of activity) the footsteps have been heard by all of us at different and separate times. at these times the sound of footsteps have stood out and been investigated as no one was in the hall at the time. but have been distinctive enough as footsteps to have me jumping out of bed and tracking down phantom intruders.
a friend that moved into the house with us and stayed with us for 3 years seemed to be picked on the most. female who was 17yrs when we moved in and 20 yrs when she moved out. she could not remain in the house alone. she was discovered numerous times sitting in driveway in tears upon my returning home from errands and such. she didn't like going into detail about what had scared her but gave brief outlines of events or at times only saying "mr spooky" she is also the only one who has had an object "flung" at her. a small cow figurine approx 3 centremetres tall flung off a shelf to the opposite of the room where she was standing and broke against the wall next to her head.
my two cats at times being very freaked out (puffed up, crouching and hissing towards the hallway and rear end of house) or playing with or rubbing up against thin air. this behaviour of my cats coincides with the "vibe" sometimes comfortable and playful sometimes "pent up or angry" (is it possible to catch mass hysteria from your cats?)
objects disappearing and then showing up right under our noses at a later date. these objects have been things like dvd's, cd's and articles of clothing. the objects aren't those of one particular individual and usually go missing for months (the longest just under 2 years) the objects usually reappear right under our noses or in the most obvious place for them to be even though with 4 of us in the house at times, those places have been searched and researched and the object was not there. there is also times that objects move to a different spot. the movement has never been seen but happens more as in when you put say a remote control down on the coffee table, you get up and go to the toilet, you come back and the remote is on the kitchen bench. (the layout of furniture in the open plan area has the kitchen defined as one way and the toilet in the opposite direction meaning you don't go near the kitchen when going to the toilet.)
my youngest daugter, in the bathroom doing her hair and sang out "hi *mark (names changed for privacy) but *mark was not home at the time. when asked why she sang that out, youngest explained "i saw *mark walk past the bathroom in the mirror"
my eldest's boyfriend saw the outline and shadow in my bedroom (main bedroom next to rear bedroom) after hearing footsteps up the hallway and going to investigate. there was only him and my eldest daughter home at the time. when he yelled out to my daughter, the shadow disappeared and then he felt "hand trace across his shoulders". he was an adamant skeptic until that night.
i was woken one night to the feeling of my big toe being tugged. there was no one else in the room. i even got up and turned the light on.
both my eldest daughter and i have had a males voice in our ear: mine was middle of the day doing housework and home alone when a males voice said clearly "Dee" in my ear. my eldest daughter has been "shaken awake" as in physically feeling a hand on her arm and shaking her awake. she also heard a males voice saying her name at the same time. eldest said this happened when she was having nightmares. upon waking she had the 'vibe" that someone was there right near or on her bed.
pictures on the walls. never stay straight no matter how much you straighten them. solution!! move the pictures around. we have often wondered if mr spooky has a penchant for interior decorating. at the moment, there are two hanging pictures that are not straight. one is a photograph of both my girls and the other is a framed poem that a friend wrote for me. i also had a matching pair of those photo frames where you can have multiple photos. both of these have very thick cardboard as a backing and a metal claw hook. early hours of one morning there was a loud bang from the loungeroom. i got up to investigate and found that my eldest daughter was also awoken from the sound. her boyfriend and my youngest slept through. we couldn't find anything at that time that could have made the noise. the following day as i walked into the loungeroom i thought "hmmm whats missing, somethings not quite right" i realised that one of the multiple photo frames was gone. i found it in the most obvious place, behind the lounge as it had hung above the lounge, with the thick cardboard torn where the metal claw hook should have been. the claw hook has never been found. the photo frames have not hung on the wall since.
home alone another day (different day to the voice in ear event) sitting on the lounge watching tv, hear a noise and it takes me a minute to realise the kettle had turned on. did the only thing i could do. i made a cup of coffee.
another night, my youngest and i went to the local shopping centre. when we left, the TV was off, no music on, only the hall light. upon pulling into the driveway we could hear muffled music. i asked my daughter "we didn't leave anything on did we?" she said "not that i remember" we found her keyboard playing on one of the beat settings. the first thought i had was that one of the cats had jumped up on the keyboard and turned it on. however, its not just a simple button to get the beat setting going.
there is probably something i am leaving out. its not easy trying to recall every incident over such a long time frame. as i remember things i will post them here.

thanks shire, actually after typing that out, i thought "wow, when its listed like that, theres been alot of activity over the time. i guess we have grown so accustomed that we tend to look at each event or series of events individually. also have to admit that i am wondering if mr spooky knows that i'm dobbing him in and what he thinks about it.
still quiet though i have had a bunch of visitors this afternoon. time is 11.49pm AEST.

9.3.2011 time AEST 10.37am.
a quiet night though at one point i thought something might of been about to happen. both cats were asleep woke up at same time to look down the hallway with great interest and instant alertness. but then their attention moved to and remained on the closed and locked front door. turned out to be another cat outside lol. i found that i was a bit jumpy too but have put this down to catching the dreaded mass hysteria from my cats and the fact that i have been sharing and listing the events and went to sleep chiding myself "silly woman" lol
i didn't note the most recent activity in the above post, though i did note it in my introduction post. i feel i should also note it here, as i want this journal to be a complete account of past and future events.
when my dog passed approx 9 years ago, my daughters bought me a statue of a rotti (tasha was a rotti, she was a pound rescue and was with me for 7 years. she was like a best mate and there is not a day that goes by that i don't miss her) the statue had a choker chain and pendant on it and the girls got the pendant engraved with tasha's name and date of passing (she was baited and died in my arms around 3am). the statue broke and was discarded but i kept the chain. i kept it in my wardrobe in the shelves section. one morning approx 10 weeks ago, as i was getting ready for work, i found the chain laid out neatly on a shelf in my bedroom. it shocked me and made me hold my breath for a few seconds as it was definitely not there when i went to bed the night before. there was only my youngest daughter and myself in the house and she was already in bed for the night before i retired. i left the chain where it was and when my youngest daughter woke up i asked her if she had put the chain on the shelf. she said "no mum, i didn't even know if that chain was still around, i haven't seen it in a ages". a few weeks later my daughter began sleeping on the lounge. i asked her why she wasn't sleeping in her room (rear bedroom) and she told me she was having nightmares and felt more comfortable in the loungeroom. to try and comfort her a bit more, i dragged my mattress out to the loungeroom and slept out there too. we turned it into a girly campout each night for about 2 weeks, watching movies, talking, painting our nails and such. i would wait for her to fall asleep and then go to sleep myself. about a week into our girly campout in the loungeroom, i woke up to the alarm one morning, got up went to the toilet and made myself a cup of coffee. my daughter was still asleep. as i was drinking my coffee and having my morning smoke (i know bad habbit) i noticed something different about the front door (still closed and locked) and realised with a start that the chain was hanging on the inside doorknob of the front door. this time i woke my daughter up and asked her if she had moved the chain to the front door. sleepily and trying to wake up she said "what? are you playing tricks on me mum?" i said "the question is are you playing tricks on me?" she said "no, i haven't touched the chain mum".
the chain is still currently hanging on the doorknob.

10.3.2011.
quick pop in today to update this journal....
didn't sleep lastnight. that weird heavier vibe was back. from around 11am through to approx 3.30am, i had the distinct and very strong feeling of being watched. found myself turning around quickly numerous times expecting to see someone there. however the cats were relaxed (starting to realise just how much i take note of their reactions and behaviours) and sleeping. no activity just that really strong impression that i wasn't alone and i was being watched.

Hey dee. I wonder how much night time anxiety you have that contributes to these feelings. It must be hard to settle sometimes, especially if you are regularly witnessing unexplained events.

hi shire, i am normally a good sleeper and have even had people say the old joke of 'could let a bomb off under you and you wouldn't wake up'. i also tend to use sleep, example if i am sick, i sleep my way through. if i'm really stressed or worried about something, i sleep and usually approach whatever the situation is calmer and more focused. at this point in time there is a a rather unpleasant and big situation going on, one that i cannot go into here due to the personal nature of it and also for legal reasons. my point being that i would usually be sleeping quite well. however, your question has raised another area. as a child i believe i suffered night terrors. between the ages of approx 4yrs and approx 7 years i would have "nightmares" the strange thing about them is that i would be awake. it always felt around the same time but being a kid i didn't really worry about what time it was. i would always wake up really thirsty, but on waking up would be too scared to move. i can remember quite vividly some of those nightmares. i also remember that my nan (who i lived with) put a night light in my room and took me to a doctor. i remember that for a while i was given a tablet before going to sleep.

journal update 10.3.2011
spoke to youngest daughter and asked 'how'd you sleep bub?' she said "not so good, kept waking up feeling like there was someone there' i said 'you too huh?' she said 'yeah but it wasn't mr spooky mum, this one was more cold, distant, scary' i said 'i felt that too but the cats were relaxed and asleep' she said 'not at around 9.30 this morning they weren't mum' i said 'were they at the front door again?' she said 'no miney was sitting at the end of the hall (in loungeroom end) and mia was sitting on the arm of the lounge. both were staring down the hallway, they were sitting up and were really watching something' i asked 'was there any noise from down that end of the house?' she said 'no'
(no windows open down there, no one else in the house, both of us were sitting in the loungeroom during this conversation, cats relaxed) conversation took place approx 2pm.
approx 15 minutes later my daughter went into her room and i heard her say 'hey mum, do you remember my gold bracelet with the heart pendent on it?' i said 'yeah hun why?' she said 'didn't we lose that bracelet when we moved in here?' i said 'no, it was here, i put it in my jewellery box for safe keeping. it went missing from there a while ago, a few months ago' my daughter then came out to the loungeroom where i was and handed me the gold bracelet with the heart pendent. i said 'where was it?' she said 'hanging off the shelf in my wardrobe' i said what do mean hanging off?' my daughter then took the bracelet back and laid it out neatly on the edge of the end table and let the heart pendent hang over the edge of the shelf. i asked 'was it there the last time you looked in there?' she said 'no i thought we lost it in the move and you can keep it now, i don't want anything more to do with it'
nothing else seems out of sorts. no vibe at present. weather is overcast, extremely light shower before.
hmmm need to note what is happening around us but would give out too much personal info here. will record this separately and privately as i feel it needs to be noted as part of this journal.

Just to get some background, without providing too much personal info - how many occupants are in the house and what are their Sex/Ages.
Also have you any equipment available - video camera, still camera, sound recorder etc...?

11.3.2011
quiet night. no vibe. cats relaxed.
my daughter was up before me this morning. i had fallen asleep in the loungeroom with the TV on. she told me this afternoon when i got home that this morning she turned the tv off. she then went to brush her teeth and heard the tv turn back on. she came back out to the loungeroom thinking i must of woke up. i was still snoring. she also said that the toilet door opened while she was in there this afternoon.she said the door was fully closed, she heard the doorknob turn and the door swung opened slowly. there was no one else in the house at the time.
i haven't been home much today and we are not at home tonight.
